Message from the ED
Ever since its inception as a CBO in 2002 and subsequent registration as an NGO in March, 2006, Seeds of Peace (SOPA) International has proudly embarked and committed to the humanitarian journey. We are proud to have made a real difference on people’s lives besides establishing ourselves as towering leaders in the field of humanitarian aid and development.
Through our action oriented and community-based approaches we have brought hope to the hopeless and cultivated peace in areas that only extremism prevailed. It is our conscious belief that talent has a magical power in unpackaging the mysteries of life, developing and resolving conflict in a non-violent manner and rebuilding relationships. Thus, through our sports and development initiatives as well as alternative livelihood programs, we have made tremendous strides in creating peaceful coexistence and non-violent transformation in Siaya, Homa- Bay, Turkana and Kitale among other areas in the country.
In these locations, which form our major areas of operations, we have registered women groups into alternative livelihood programs, transformed young warriors into peace leaders, recruited street families into productive subsistence and helped young men and women explore their talents.
Through its unlimited opportunities from outside research and analysis as well as counseling and networking, SOPA has maintained a trustworthy profile with its partners in facilitating the empowerment of children, young people and women. It is thus, fulfilling that we have continued to attract international partners who have found our unimpeachable profile quite endearing.
In this regard, I would like to thank all our strategic partners, experts and key stakeholders including the communities as well as both the national and county governments for their continuous support over the last years. I sincerely hope that their unlimited contributions will continue playing a key role in achieving SOPA’s mission of facilitating community empowerment through non-violent means, conflict transformation, capacity building and peace education.
I also hope that more partners can find it worthy to join our team in this noble course of serving the needs and challenges of people in need.
