The Kenya Development Response to Displacement Impacts Project (KDRDIP)
The Kenya Development Response to Displacement Impacts Project (KDRDIP) in Kenya is a five-year project that aims at providing priority support to the communities that have hosted refugees for close to 30 years. These are host communities in Garissa- Daadab, Fafi and Lagdera; Wajir South in Wajir County and Turkana West in Turkana County.
The objective of the project is to improve access to basic social services, expand economic opportunities, and enhance environmental management for communities hosting refugees in Turkana West Sub-County. The project is being implemented in the following wards;
The project is being implemented through four distinct and interrelated components:
Social and Economic Infrastructure and Services
This component supports improvement in access to basic services for the host communities. It focuses on education, health, water, sanitation and access roads sectors.
Environment and Natural Resource Management
The focus is to support the environment and restorative measures that will rehabilitate and improve productivity of the land through support to water conservation and increase biomass.
This component supports interventions aimed at improving the productivity of traditional and non-traditional livelihoods and strengthening the resilience of communities through groups.
Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation and Knowledge Sharing.
This component ensures enhanced and effective project management, coordination and implementation and to support the design of the project monitoring and evaluation system.
The Facilitating Partner works closely with National Project Implementation Unit, County Project Implementation Unit and the community to support and facilitate planning and implementation processes of all the components at the sub location, ward and sub-county levels.
